Trump and Zelenskyy war of words heats up even as US looks to wind down war in Ukraine

President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Voldimia Zelensky exchanged a brief insult on Wednesday after a meeting with US and Russian officials in Saudi Arabia, who have no Ukrainian representatives.

However, Ukraine's absence from Tuesday's negotiations appears to have exacerbated the wedge between Washington and Kiev.

“The unelected dictator Zelensky will move fast or he will not leave the country. Meanwhile, we are well negotiating the end of the war with Russia. Trump said in a social media post Wednesday. Ta.

Trump's post included a series of inaccurate statements, including Zelensky “speaks the United States to spend $350 billion and fails to enter a war that cannot be won.” Meanwhile, the Council of Foreign Relations said that since 2022, the assembly has allocated $175 billion to aid Ukraine.

Trump's comments were built on a statement he submitted on Tuesday at the Florida Mar a Lago Estate. There he said that Russia was not the only thing that put pressure on Ukraine to hold elections. One of Russia's terms of signing a peace agreement includes the Ukrainian election, which will hold elections for nearly a year, when Zelensky's five-year term is expected to end.

However, Zelenskyy remains in his position as Kiev leads as the Ukrainian constitution holds elections under martial law. Ukraine has been under martial law since February 2022.

Additionally, Trump disciplined Ukraine on Tuesday for not ending the war sooner, and appears to suggest that Ukraine has begun a conflict despite Russia's invasion of Ukraine in 2022 Ta.

“I think Putin and the Russians are very happy because the questions are being discussed with them,” Zelenkie said.
