Trump announces death of former Fox host Lou Dobbs

Longtime television news personality and conservative commentator Lou Dobbs has died, former President Trump announced on Thursday.

“The great Lou Dobbs has passed away. A friend and a truly incredible journalist, reporter and talented person,” Trump said. wrote on the Truth Social website.“He understood the world and what was going on better than most. Lou was unique in many ways and loved our country. My heartfelt condolences to his wonderful wife Debi and family. He will be greatly missed!”

Trump did not provide further details about Dobbs’ death.

Dobbs is a decades-long cable news veteran and longtime host of a news and analysis show that aired on Fox Business Network.

Fox Cancel Dobbs’ show The move came just days after he was named in a defamation lawsuit by voting systems company Smartmatic in 2021 related to false claims made by Trump and his allies about the 2020 election and its software.

“We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lou Dobbs,” Fox News Media said in a statement to The Hill on Thursday.

“A gifted broadcaster with a brilliant business mind, Lou helped build cable news into a successful and influential industry,” the network said. “We are deeply grateful for his many contributions and offer our heartfelt condolences to his family.”

Dobbs was one of Trump’s most staunch supporters in the media, and continued to promote the former president and his policies on social media after leaving Fox.

All eyes are on Trump on Thursday as he is scheduled to speak at the Republican National Convention and formally accept his party’s presidential nomination again this fall.
