Former President Donald Trump was in court to watch jury selection for the second trial against E. Jean Carroll.

Last week, former first lady Melania Trump announced that her mother, Amalia Knabs, had passed away at the age of 78.
In a letter to Judge Lewis A. Kaplan on Friday, former President Trump's attorney Alina Haba said the former president would like to attend trial on the allegations raised by Carroll, but that He also explained that he would like to attend his mother's funeral.
Kaplan issued a ruling later the same day denying the request, adding that the court “expressed its condolences” but that “the application is denied.”
