President-elect Donald Trump announced several candidates Tuesday as his team prepares to take over the White House next year.

The president-elect has nominated Jamison Greer as U.S. trade representative, Kevin Hassett as director of the White House National Economic Council, and Vince Haley as director of the Domestic Policy Council.
Announcing Greer's nomination, President Trump said in a statement that in his first term, Greer worked to impose tariffs on countries like China and replace trade deals with Canada and Mexico, “thus supporting American workers. has become much better.”
If confirmed by the Senate, Mr. Greer would be responsible for directly negotiating trade agreements and disputes with foreign governments, as well as membership in international trade organizations such as the World Trade Organization.
Greer previously served as chief of staff to President Trump's former trade representative, Robert Lighthizer.
Jim O'Neill has also been named deputy secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), working alongside Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who was tapped to head the department.
O'Neill, who served as HHS's principal deputy secretary, said, “We are united in making America great and healthy again so that all Americans, especially our most precious resource, our children, can live long and healthy lives.'' “I will fight,” Trump said.
Meanwhile, economist Kevin Hassett has been appointed director of the White House National Economic Council, bringing a key supporter of tax cuts into the Trump administration.
President Trump said in Tuesday's announcement that Hassett “will play a critical role in helping American families recover from the inflation caused by the Biden administration,” and that the two will work together to pass the 2017 tax cuts. “We will update and improve,” he said. The expiry date is after 2025.
Vince Haley, who served as a speechwriter for the Trump campaign, will now serve as director of the Domestic Policy Council.

“Vince led the speechwriting department during my first administration and was instrumental in getting our message to the people,” he added. “Prior to joining my campaign in 2016, he spent 12 years in various roles working for Newt Gingrich, whom I greatly admire.”
Businessman John Phelan will also be the next Secretary of the Navy. Mr. Phelan is a co-founder of MSD Capital, which he co-founded.
“His record of success speaks for itself. He is a true champion of American enterprise and ingenuity!” President Trump said in a statement.
“John will be a great addition to the Navy and a solid leader who will advance my America First vision,” President Trump said. “He will prioritize the business of the U.S. Navy above all else.”
