Trump Warns of Potential Impeachment for House Republicans
President Donald Trump cautioned House Republicans that they might face a third impeachment if they lose control in the upcoming 2026 midterm elections. He urged lawmakers to secure a solid victory in November to counteract what he terms as Democratic overreach and to defend “America First” policies.
“We have to win the midterm elections, because if we don’t win, they’re just going to find a reason to impeach me,” he remarked during a House Republican policy gathering. “I will be impeached,” he added, emphasizing the need to prevail.
“We don’t impeach them. You know why? Because they’re meaner than us. We should have impeached Joe Biden on 100 different things,” he claimed.
Trump highlighted the critical nature of the midterms during a speech at the Trump Kennedy Center, noting that these elections will dictate whether Republicans keep their majorities in Congress. All members of the House and about a third of the Senate will be up for re-election this November.
Having faced impeachment twice during his first term, the process was similar on both occasions: the Democratic-controlled House impeached him, while the Senate acquitted him, allowing him to remain in office. The first impeachment in 2019 revolved around alleged pressure on Ukraine to investigate Joe Biden, and the second impeachment in 2021 stemmed from his conduct related to the January 6 Capitol protests. Trump has consistently maintained his innocence, framing the impeachments as partisan attacks.
At a rally on Tuesday, Trump expressed optimism that unpopular Democratic policies could work in Republicans’ favor, asserting they do not connect with most American voters.
“But when they want open borders, when they want men in women’s sports, they don’t resonate well,” he remarked, adding a dramatized comment about Democratic policies on gender.
“We have great policies. They have terrible ones. They never get a downvote,” he asserted.
Trump also indicated plans to expand his efforts against the pharmaceutical industry, announcing intentions to pressure healthcare CEOs into lowering premiums for American families. He criticized industry leaders as “fat cats” who profit excessively and reiterated his commitment to using influential negotiation tactics.
“I don’t want money going to the big guys and the insurance companies. I want it to go directly to people who can buy their own health insurance,” he emphasized. “The insurance companies have been making massive profits, and they’re the biggest donors. They will try to fight back, but ultimately, we’re going to put the money in the hands of the people.”
“I’ll meet all of them. Fourteen companies in total,” he reassured.
In light of recent developments, Trump mentioned he is preparing to meet with key oil executives to discuss restarting drilling in Venezuela, leveraging the country’s oil reserves to supply the market and potentially lower prices for U.S. consumers.
“I’m also in talks with oil companies… There’s a lot of oil to drill and oil prices will fall further,” he stated.
A meeting with executives from major corporations like ExxonMobil, Chevron, and ConocoPhillips is scheduled at the White House for later this week.
If Congressional Democrats reclaim power in 2027, they are expected to investigate the Trump administration for alleged misconduct, alongside examining his business dealings. Following the recent military actions in Venezuela, Representative Maxine Waters has indicated that these actions could provide justification for another impeachment.
“Today, many Democrats are understandably questioning whether another impeachment is possible under current political realities,” he noted. “I’m reconsidering that view. Even if Republicans refuse to act, Democrats cannot remain passive.”
