Trump Attends U.S. Open Men’s Final
President Trump made an appearance at the U.S. Open in Queens on Sunday, gearing up to watch the men’s singles final.
He walked to the suite at Arthur Ashe Stadium just before the match was set to start at 2:30 PM.
As he entered, the crowd around his box welcomed him with cheers.
Trump briefly waved and acknowledged the audience, which responded with a mix of cheers and boos.
He was accompanied by several administration officials, including U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondy, White House Chief of Staff Susie Wills, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent.
His presence at the match between Janik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz stirred up discussions even prior to his arrival.
The U.S. Tennis Association had recommended that broadcasters avoid airing the audience’s reactions, whether positive or negative, urging them to maintain focus on the event itself.
“We ask all broadcasters to refrain from introducing confusion or reactions regarding the President’s attendance,” the USTA advised.
During his 2015 appearance at the U.S. Open, Trump faced significant booing.
This time around, his presence contributed to longer lines and delays as fans underwent strict security screenings.
One attendee, Dino Romeo, who had traveled from California, expressed frustration about the lines but said he felt “indifferent” about Trump being there.
In contrast, another fan voiced her annoyance about the situation, although her boyfriend had a different take, stating, “I think it’s great.” It’s interesting how opinions varied, reflecting the mixed feelings surrounding his attendance.
