President Trump Dines with Royal Family at Windsor Castle
On Wednesday evening, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump shared a dinner with the royal family at Windsor Castle. President Trump described the experience as “one of the greatest honors of my life.”
Accompanied by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy Steve Witkov, President Trump was warmly received by King Charles III and Queen Camilla, who hosted the dinner at St. George’s Hall. The President continuously expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit and be part of such a significant occasion.
Prior to dinner, King Charles and Queen Camilla showcased impressive pageantry, including carriage processions, military parades, and aerial displays by the Red Arrows.
The welcome from Prince William and Princess Kate underscored the ceremonial significance of the visit and the strong diplomatic ties between the US and UK.
The banquet itself was quite the spectacle, stretching an impressive 155 feet. Setting it up took nearly a week, and it featured 1,452 pieces of cutlery and 139 candles meticulously arranged along its length.
During the banquet, President Trump voiced his sincere appreciation for the royal invitation, emphasizing the long-standing friendship and shared history between both nations.
“It’s a singular privilege to be the first US president to be welcomed twice here. It’s the first and perhaps that’s what will happen at the end. We had a very sick country a year ago, but today we think we are the hottest country in the world,” he stated.
The President described the US-UK relationship as two notes forming a harmonious chord—each beautiful on its own yet meant to complement one another.
“The heartfelt people of this kingdom defeated Napoleon, unleashed the Industrial Revolution, destroyed slavery, and defended civilization in the darkest times of fascism and communism,” he added.
King Charles echoed this sentiment, acknowledging the strong partnership between their nations during his remarks.
“My wife and I are very pleased to welcome you to Windsor Castle on your second visit. Your visit reflects the enduring bond between our two great countries,” he remarked, also hinting at ongoing global challenges.
He emphasized the importance of continued diplomatic efforts, especially in light of current conflicts, like the situation in Ukraine.
“Our countries work together to support important diplomatic efforts,” King Charles said, highlighting Trump’s dedication to resolving conflicts.
The King further discussed the responsibility to protect future generations, mentioning the need for clean water, air, and food, a legacy that should endure for the next 250 years and beyond.
To conclude the evening, King Charles proposed a toast.
“Let us toast for the health, prosperity, and happiness of President Trump, First Lady, and the people of America,” he declared.
