Trump Awards Charlie Kirk the Presidential Medal of Freedom in Heartfelt Rose Garden Ceremony

Washington – Charlie Kirk Awarded Presidential Medal of Freedom

In a heartfelt ceremony held on what would have been Charlie Kirk’s 32nd birthday, President Donald Trump presented the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Kirk’s widow, Erika Kirk, in the newly renovated Rose Garden.

Surrounded by friends, Republican politicians, and conservative media figures, President Trump expressed admiration for Erika, stating, “Your love and courage have inspired all of us. We will always be here for you and your beautiful children.” He emphasized that instead of celebrating a birthday, “Charlie is commemorating a much more significant milestone,” vowing to etch his name among true American heroes.

Reflecting on Kirk’s legacy, Trump remarked, “We lost our country to this extraordinary champion,” and noted that Kirk “was assassinated at the peak of his life because he fearlessly spoke his truth.” The President highlighted Kirk’s dedication to his country, underscoring how he “fought relentlessly for a better, stronger America.”

The tragic circumstances of Kirk’s death were also mentioned, with authorities identifying 22-year-old Tyler Robinson as the assassin. It was noted that Robinson left behind disturbing phrases and references to a song associated with far-left movements.

Trump further commented on the political landscape, observing that “in the days since Charlie’s murder, we’ve witnessed why his example is so crucial.” He pointed out that many on the far left resort to violence as they sense their ideologies failing.

Trump condemned recent violent acts against law enforcement, indicating a troubling trend in rising aggression from certain groups.

Kirk’s contributions to Turning Point USA were acknowledged, with Trump praising the organization’s growth following Kirk’s assassination. Erika Kirk expressed gratitude, stating the award was “the best birthday present ever” for her late husband, honoring his life of purpose and truth.

She shared personal reflections on his character, noting his boldness and faith, which often came at personal cost. “He filled each day with purpose…amazingly, he prayed for his enemies,” she remarked.

She suggested that Charlie might have even considered running for president if he felt the country needed him.

Notable attendees included Turning Point USA spokesperson Andrew Corbett, figures from Human Events, and popular media personalities like Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity. Following the ceremony, Trump signed a proclamation with Erika Kirk to designate October 14, 2025, as a National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk.
