Trump Endorses Ciattarelli for New Jersey Governor

On Monday, former President Donald Trump endorsed Jack Ciattarelli for the governorship of New Jersey. In a post about True Society, Trump expressed excitement, noting that Ciattarelli is “the first candidate in the great America running to become the next governor of my beloved nation in New Jersey!”

Trump praised Ciattarelli, stating that if elected, he would collaborate with the Trump administration to stimulate economic growth, slash taxes and regulations, enhance border security, curb immigration-related crime, support veterans, and boost America’s energy sector.

“Jack is a Republican candidate best positioned to oppose the radical leftist Democrats, ensuring a substantial win in this crucial gubernatorial race,” Trump added.

In a related incident, tensions arose when a group of clergy members visited the Newark Ice Facilities, resulting in clashes with police.

Ciattarelli responded to Trump’s backing, saying, “I am truly humbled and honored to have the very strong support of President Trump today. It’s time for our party to unite, win big in November, and make New Jersey affordable and safe.” He concluded, “When I’m the governor, we will achieve that.”

Interestingly, Ciattarelli had been a vocal critic of Trump in the past, labeling him a “charlatan” and stating in 2015 that he wasn’t fit for the presidency. It seems like both men are turning a new page, as Ciattarelli has been seen shaking hands with Trump at events in 2020.

Now, Ciattarelli is gearing up for the Republican primary on June 10th, where he will face conservative radio host Bill Spadea and state Senator John Blumnick. In the 2021 election, he nearly toppled incumbent Democratic governor Phil Murphy, coming within three points.

In a statement responding to Trump’s endorsement, Spadea criticized Ciattarelli, claiming, “Donald Trump’s support comes after years of efforts by Jack to lie about his own record. My determination to advocate for the people of New Jersey has never been stronger, as it serves the best interests of the nation.”

The New Jersey Democratic Governors Association (DGA) also expressed disapproval of Trump’s endorsement. DGA Communications Director Sam Newton stated, “This endorsement confirms what we already knew. Jack Ciattarelli will prioritize Donald Trump’s agenda over the needs of New Jerseyans. As governor, he would bring Trump’s high costs and chaotic policies to Trenton instead of working to protect New Jersey’s freedom and making life more affordable.”
