Trump Comments on Barron’s Reaction to Charlie Kirk’s Death
On September 11, 2025, President Donald Trump shared that his youngest son, 19-year-old Barron, was quite affected by the assassination of Charlie Kirk, the co-founder of Turning Point USA.
“He was very hurt when he saw this, but I was like everyone,” Trump remarked during a morning statement. “He’s a great guy, and what happened will make him even more significant.”
Trump mentioned that Barron, who had just returned to the White House, had previously expressed admiration for Kirk and considered himself a fan.
Trump recounted, “Barron came to me and said, ‘Dad, I want to meet someone you know… Charlie Kirk.’ I was surprised, thinking he might mention someone like King Charles.”
The president arranged a lunch for the two, and after meeting Kirk, Barron had positive feedback.
“He came back and said, ‘That guy is amazing, Daddy. That guy is amazing.’ Usually, he’s not that complimentary,” Trump noted.
For years, Barron has been involved in discussions at various universities, aligning with the advocacy work Kirk supported, which fostered open debates.
“Charlie had a unique influence on young people; he had a diverse group of followers,” Trump added.
This aligns with Trump’s earlier statement about Kirk following the news of his death, emphasizing that no one understood the youth of the country better than Kirk.
In other news, Tyler Robinson, a suspect apprehended in Utah in connection with an attack at Utah Valley University, was reportedly linked to Kirk’s viewpoints, with family reflections indicating he viewed Kirk as “full of hate.” Evidence collected from the scene suggested a related motive.
To honor Kirk, Trump has ordered the U.S. flag to be flown at half-mast until Sunday evening.
