A new ad from SFA Fun Inc., a pro-Haley super PAC, asks whether former President Trump is “sick” or “ignorant” for his comments about soldiers and veterans and his attacks on Haley’s deployed husband.
“Donald Trump did it again, this time attacking Nikki Haley’s husband.” 30 second adaccuses President Trump of a “sick pattern” and points to reports that the former president called fallen soldiers “sucks.” “loser”.
“Donald Trump: Sick or ignorant? It’s time to turn the page,” the video concludes. The ad will begin airing in South Carolina on Wednesday.
Earlier this week, Haley slammed Trump for making “disgusting” comments in which she questioned why her husband, who works overseas, wasn’t accompanying her on the campaign trail.
“What happened to her husband?” Trump asked at a recent campaign event in South Carolina. “Where is he? He’s gone. He knew. He knew.”
Michael Haley was deployed to Africa with the South Carolina Army National Guard last June.
“Our service members, veterans, and their families deserve a commander-in-chief who is not only proud of their service and sacrifice, but someone they can be proud of. Unfortunately, Donald Trump ,” SFA spokeswoman Preya Samsunder said in a statement.
The Hill has reached out to the Trump campaign for comment on the SFA Fund ad.
Trump and Haley are just over a week away from the South’s first primary in Haley’s home state of South Carolina, the next big test in the Republican presidential nomination process.
Trump holds a significant lead in this area. The former president is up nearly 33 points in the state, according to the latest polling average from Decision Desk HQ-The Hill.
