Trump Calls Everybody Else Fake News When ‘He’s the One Peddling Fake News’

On Thursday, host Jim Acosta said on “CNN Newsroom” that President-elect Donald Trump is “spreading fake news” while accusing others of spreading fake news. he claimed.

A partial transcription follows:

Acosta: So, Neil, I mean, this is a problem. And you said a few minutes ago that you can't take them literally. Why shouldn't we take the president of the United States literally? Isn't it some kind of basic expectation that he should stick to the facts?

Republican Strategist Neil Chatterjee: Look, in this particular instance, I didn't know the exact wording he used in the True Social post. I think what he was saying was that this person had crossed illegally, or if that was the case, it was based on the initial report, which was wrong, and someone did it.

Acosta: Why don't you put it on the screen again? I mean, what he was talking about was-

CHATTERJEE: But he has a point-

Acosta: He criticizes Biden's open borders policy. He talks about it on Truth Social. “When I said the criminals in this country are far worse than the criminals in our country, that statement was constantly refuted by the Democratic Party and the fake news media, but it turned out to be true.” The case is different. What he says in the Truth Social post is wrong. That's incorrect.

CHATTERJEE: He's not saying this person crossed the border illegally, but there were 400 people on the terrorist watch list who crossed the border illegally.

Acosta: Of course. But when acts of terrorism occur in this country, the next president should tell the American people the truth. I mean, isn't that what a president should always do?

CHATTERJEE: He's talking about border security. He's been talking about border security for years. And he believes, and I think the data supports that, that his push for secure borders was part of why he won the election.

Acosta: I mean, I just have to say, he went again. He says everyone else is fake news and he is the only one spreading fake news.
