Trump Calls for a Return to Religion in America at National Prayer Breakfast

President Trump was opened up about his own faith on Thursday, informing attendees of the National Prayer Breakfast that he has deepened his relationship with God since he survived his assassination attempt. Trump's comments at the bipartisan event for the 78-year-old CEO, who said he is eager to an age where Republicans and Democrats can work together again and even enjoy a meal together. It was more personal and reconciliatory than usual.

“If we could get together, it would be hard to believe it. It may not happen, but it should and probably would,” he said.

Trump referenced his July assassination attempt when a gunman bullet came within millimeters of the end of his life.

“It changed something in me. I feel – I feel even stronger. I believed in God, but I feel even stronger. Something happened. ” he applauded.

“But that incident was like a tragedy last week,” he said of the crash of the plane.

Multiple times during his speech, Trump urged the country to return to religion.

“I really believe that without religion, you can't be happy,” he said. “If I don't have that belief, I really believe it – I don't know how you can do it. So let's regain religion. Let's return God to our lives.”

America was founded on religious principles, he said.

“From the early days of our Republic, faith in God has always been the ultimate source of strength that slams into the hearts of our nation,” he said. “We have to regain our religion. We have to regain it stronger. That's one of the biggest issues we've had over the last fairly long period. We It must be reclaimed. …American story, our nation is deeply hopeful, courage and inspiration for the souls of all patriots. It hopes that it will happen.

The lives of historical figures like George Washington, John Winthrop and Roger Williams “reminds us that there would not be a story of America without faith in God.”

“Every citizen should be proud of this exceptional legacy,” Trump said.

With legislators on both parties listening, the President encouraged people of faith to unite for the common good.

“A lot of you are very religious and I think our country is seriously hurt. We are very hurt by what Covid has made into religion. It really hurts. People are long I was unable to go to church during the time and struggled to get out, but I'm not blaming anyone for that, but it was very difficult to get together.

“We must put our country first, make America stronger and more extraordinary than ever, and now we must make religion a more important element. We have to make that an important factor: work unites people again.

Trump spoke from his childhood when he saw Democrats enjoying a meal with Republicans. Today, he said that such a concept is “shocking and shouldn't be.”

“We really have to get together. We all know what's right and what's wrong. There's a compromise on both sides, but we have to do the right thing, and we're not getting together. It has to,” he said.

The president acknowledged that some issues, including biological men in women's sports, have not been opened to compromise. But the other issues are not black and white.

“It's viable,” he said.

A tragic helicopter-Airprene crash will lead to improvements in the air traffic control system, he said.

“It will be used forever,” he said of the tragedy.

Meanwhile, Trump has announced plans for Washington, D.C.'s new historic site, “The National Garden of American Heroes.” That's the idea he first published in his first semester.

“We are going to honor our heroes and honor the best people in our country,” he said.
