President Trump has called for an investigation into actions taken by President Biden, raising concerns about Biden’s mental fitness toward the end of his term.
In discussions with Attorney General Pam Bondy, Trump urged a probe into whether Biden “misled the public about his mental state and conspired to misuse presidential powers in an unconstitutional manner.”
The focus of this inquiry includes Biden’s use of an “autopen” for signing documents, with critics questioning his capability to fulfill his presidential duties.
Trump points to Biden’s appointment of over 200 judges, the issuance of thousands of pardons, and the release of more than 1,000 presidential documents as part of the scrutiny.
Biden has firmly refuted claims that he was not in control of decision-making during his presidency.
“Let’s be clear. We made decisions while in office—decisions regarding pardons, executive orders, legislation, and declarations,” he stated.
He characterized the investigation as merely a distraction orchestrated by Trump and Congressional Republicans, who are pushing to cut essential programs like Medicaid and advocate for laws that would raise costs for American families.
Biden’s supporters argue that using autopens for signing official documents is a standard procedure, supported by legal precedent, and that the Constitution allows presidents to exercise wide-ranging powers.
A new book titled “The Original Crime: President Biden’s Decline, Concealment, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again” has sparked renewed discussions about Biden’s mental acuity during his presidency and potential cognitive decline.
Since Trump’s administration began, the GOP has intensified scrutiny on Biden.
The White House confirmed that Ed Martin’s legal team will examine Biden’s family amnesty and review various leniencies granted on the last day of his inauguration.
House Republicans have reached out to former aides of Biden as part of an investigation into his mental fitness.
Last month, the Justice Department released a full recording of an interview with Biden’s special advisor, Robert Herr, who noted lapses in memory. During this period, Biden released a complete transcript of their conversation.
