MILWAUKEE — The Trump campaign fired back after President Biden immediately took to social media to slam Trump’s new running mate, Ohio Sen. J.D. Vance.
Shortly after Vance was announced as Trump’s running mate, the Biden campaign Post to X “This is about JD Vance. He talks big words about working people. But now he and Trump are pushing for higher taxes on middle class families and more tax cuts for the wealthy,” he posted, along with a fundraising link.
Caroline Sunshine, deputy director of communications for Trump 2024, disputed the attack in an interview with Fox News Digital on Tuesday.
“Given what’s happened in this country, with the assassination attempt on President Trump, I think it’s really surreal and really in bad taste that a sitting president of the United States, rather than calling for anything other than unity, would use this opportunity to attack President Trump’s new running mate and attack him over policy,” Sunshine said.

Sunshine continued, “This statement makes it clear that Joe Biden is not the person who can unite this country.”
