Trump campaign office near DC burglarized, police say

A man broke into and robbed a Trump campaign office outside Washington, D.C., on Sunday, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office. said on Monday.

Police released photos that showed a man with a visible face walking around the office and appearing to stuff items into a backpack.Police said they received a report of the break-in around 9pm on Sunday.

“It is unusual for a political operation or party office to be broken into,” Sheriff Mike Chapman said in a statement. “We will identify the suspect, investigate why this happened, and determine what was taken and what was left behind.”

Police said the Ashburn, Virginia, office is also the headquarters for the Virginia 10th District Republican Committee.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident and is seeking additional information about the suspect.

The announcement of the intrusion came the same day that the FBI said it was investigating an alleged hack of Trump campaign files, which the campaign claims were compromised by hackers backed by the Iranian government.
