The Trump campaign on Monday objected to a sudden attempt by the Harris campaign to change the rules for ABC News’ Sept. 10 debate from muted to unmuted microphones.
Ms. Harris wants an unmuted microphone to avoid any verbal exchanges, said a person familiar with her negotiations. said Politico Playbook. Read more about Harris’ word salad here.
“She’s happy to have a conversation with him, even when he tries to interrupt,” the source said, “and from the way he seems upset with her, he is very prone to emotional outbursts and … I think the campaign wants viewers to hear.” [that].”
The controversy dates back to when President Joe Biden was still campaigning, when the two candidates agreed during two debates (on CNN on June 27 and ABC on September 10) that Biden insisted that “everyone except the one speaking should have their microphones muted throughout the debate,” CNN reported. Reported June 15th.

After the Trump and Harris campaigns agreed to hold a debate in September, the Harris campaign on Sunday asked ABC News and other networks to unmute the candidates’ microphones, CNN reported. ReportedTrump’s idea Opposed in a statement to Playbook.
“Enough with the game. We accepted the ABC debate on the exact same terms as the CNN debate,” Trump senior adviser Jason Miller told Playbook on Sunday night. “The Harris campaign asked for a sit-down debate with notes and opening statements after already agreeing to the CNN rules. We said there would be no changes to the rules we agreed to.”
“If Kamala Harris isn’t smart enough to repeat the messaging that her cronies want her to memorize, that’s their problem,” he added. “This seems to be a pattern from the Harris campaign: They won’t let her do interviews, they won’t let her do press conferences, and now they’re going to give her a cheat sheet for the debates.”
Trump too Be suspicious Speaking about his debate with Harris on Sunday’s Truth Social, he highlighted the media’s left-leaning bias.
I watched ABC Fake News this morning, and after watching both the ridiculously biased interview with Tom Cotton (who was great!) by flippant reporter Jonathan Karl (K?) and the so-called Trump-hater panel, it makes me ask: Why should I have a debate with Kamala Harris on that network?
The Harris campaign’s abrupt decision to change the rules came after Trump crushed Biden in the first debate in June, events that prompted Democrats to remove Biden as the party’s de facto nominee.
“We have told ABC and other networks considering hosting the debate in October that we believe both candidates should have their microphones on the air the entire time,” Brian Fallon, senior communications adviser to the Harris campaign, told Playbook.
Our understanding is that Trump personnel prefer muted microphones because they don’t believe a candidate can act presidential for 90 minutes alone. I suspect Trump’s team hasn’t even told their bosses about this controversy because they’re embarrassed to admit they don’t think they can stand up to VP Harris without a mute button.

Harris repeatedly made it clear that she would not stand by and watch this unfold, repeatedly saying, “Mr. Vice President, I’m going to speak.” https://t.co/2PHRXhFnmJ pic.twitter.com/IYfxjhT66X
