Former President Trump’s campaign said Thursday that it raised about $139 million in July after weeks of chaos during the election season.
The Trump campaign said last month that Trump and his endorsement committee raised $138.7 million, bringing his total cash on hand to $327 million. The latest figures “reflect continued momentum from donors at all levels and will provide funding for the remaining 96 days until victory on November 5th,” the campaign said in a statement.
July was a month of several significant events in Trump’s reelection campaign: The former president survived an assassination attempt, formally accepted the Republican nomination at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and named Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) as his running mate in an expected announcement during the convention.
The fundraising numbers this month also reflect the CNN debate between President Trump and President Biden, whose poor performance led many Democrats to call for him to drop out of the race. Biden announced his withdrawal on July 21 and subsequently endorsed Vice President Harris as his nominee.
Trump’s latest fundraising totals come as Harris’ campaign gains momentum in its first two weeks.
Harris’ campaign announced that it had raised $200 million in just the first week of the campaign, as Democrats embraced her and enthusiasm grew among voters. The campaign also announced that it had signed up more than 170,000 volunteers in the first week.
The Hill/Decision Desk average of national polls has the former president leading Harris by about one point, while other national polls have shown her narrowing her lead over Trump since launching her campaign last month.
