Trump Cannot Fulfill Important Commitment Without Cutting Through Bureaucratic Obstacles

The country serves as more than just an economic space; it’s certainly not a place for resettlement. The American left understands this well in contexts like Mexico, Ukraine, and Sudan. However, when it comes to their own situation, they seem to struggle with certain concepts. Whether it’s due to ignorance, misguided empathy, or perhaps even malicious intent, they’re often heard protesting: “What about undocumented immigrants who haven’t committed any crimes?” It’s important to note, though, that all undocumented immigrants are technically breaking the law. This reflects a misunderstanding of U.S. law. The government not only has the right but also the duty to expedite their removal.

At every turn, the left puts up barriers. Current estimates suggest that over 18 million undocumented immigrants are residing in the U.S., according to the United States Federation of Immigration Reform. The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) employs about 21,000 individuals. Dealing with such a large population is indeed a complex challenge, especially without support from local governments. Yet, that’s not the current reality. In various American cities, elected officials are employing numerous tactics to stymie Trump’s deportation efforts. Their justifications are, well, quite astounding.
