Former President Trump challenged President Biden to another “no holds barred” debate late Thursday.
“I have the answer to the riddle of Joe Biden’s incompetence. Let’s have another debate, but this time there will be no strings attached. Just the two of us will stand on this stage and talk about the future of our country,” Trump said. wrote Posted by Truth Social: “The first debate had record-breaking viewership, but this one will blow them all away because of the format.”
Biden’s hoarse, staccato performance at last week’s debate raised questions about whether he would remain the Democratic front-runner, and since then, three House Democrats and others in his party have said Biden should drop out of the race.
In a post Thursday night, Trump said he wanted Biden to discuss a range of topics from immigration to inflation in another debate.
“Similarly, it would be a new challenge for me. What an amazing evening it would be to have a good old fashioned debate, just the two of us, one on one. Anytime, anywhere, any place!!!” the former president added.
The White House insisted Wednesday that Biden was not withdrawing from the presidential race, and in a fundraising email sent the same day said no one was “trying to get rid of me.”
“I am the Democratic candidate,” the fundraising email said. “No one is trying to get rid of me. I have no plans to go away. I am going to fight this race to the end. And we are going to win this election. If that’s all you want to hear, please support me by donating a few dollars.” [Vice President Harris] And I’m going to defeat Donald Trump in November.”
“I’m not going anywhere,” Biden said at an Independence Day event at the White House.
The Hill has reached out to the Biden campaign for comment on Trump’s post.
