Trump’s Appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show”
On Tuesday, President Trump made a phone appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show,” during which he reiterated the Marine Corps battle cry.
Earlier that day, he had laid a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery before joining the show, which was being broadcast from the Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island. Trump discussed various initiatives aimed at enhancing veterans’ services and addressed several sports-related questions, including a query from McAfee regarding name, image, and likeness (NIL) regulations in the NCAA.
When asked if he had ever played “OORAH” with a group of Marines, Trump spoke about the professionalism displayed by the Marines, noting that he found it very impressive. His comments highlighted the respect he holds for their level of discipline and training.
The Marine Corps battle cry “OORAH” has roots in the diving alarm sound used by Balao-class submarines. This sound was reportedly adapted for use during training by Marines from the 1st Amphibious Reconnaissance Squadron during the Korean War.
McAfee then prompted Trump, asking if he would like to “drop OORAH” live on the air. Trump agreed, and a Marine from Parris Island responded with the battle cry, showcasing a moment of military camaraderie.
On another note, the Marines recently celebrated their 250th anniversary. Vice President J.D. Vance, a former Marine with combat experience in Iraq, visited Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, California, alongside First Lady Usha Vance and Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth.
