Trump Claims Adam Schiff May Be Involved in Mortgage Fraud
President Donald Trump has addressed claims regarding California Democratic Senator Adam Schiff, indicating that financial investigators have determined he might be guilty of mortgage fraud.
On Tuesday, Trump took to his social media platform to share these allegations, referencing findings from the Fannie Mae Financial Crimes Division.
“He’s a dishonest and crooked man. Adam Schiff is a serious, low-living creature,” Trump expressed.
“I’ve always suspected Shifty Adam Schiff is a fraudster, and now I know that Fannie Mae’s financial crimes division concludes that he is involved in a persistent pattern of potential mortgage fraud,” he elaborated.
Trump further claimed that Schiff misrepresented a Maryland property as his primary residence to sidestep California’s hefty property taxes. “Adam Schiff said his main residence was in Maryland, allowing him to secure a cheaper mortgage while actually living in California as a lawmaker,” Trump added. “I always knew he was a con man.”
He suggested Schiff might have improperly designated the property during a refinancing in 2009, maintaining his suspicions of fraudulent activity through to 2020.
“Mortgage fraud is very serious, and we need to bring crooked Adam Schiff (now the Senator) to trial,” he stated.
In response, Schiff pushed back with a statement on his own social media site. “Since I first led the charge against him, Trump has repeatedly called for my arrest for treason, so I think this is just another disappointment,” he argued.
He further claimed that this baseless attempt at political retaliation won’t deter him from holding Trump accountable. “It’s not a long shot,” he said.
Trump also condemned Schiff during a press briefing, stating, “Adam Schiff is one of the lowest lows. I want to see him brought to justice. He is unjust and bent.”
According to Axios, federal housing finance agencies declined to comment on the President’s accusations.
These allegations echo similar ones faced by New York Attorney General Letitia James, who has been accused of misrepresenting rental properties as her main residence. She dismissed those claims as “baseless.”
