Trump Claims Biden Administration Would Have Quickly Released Epstein Files If They Were Damaging to Him

Trump Comments on Epstein Files

President Donald Trump stated on Monday that the conviction related to investor Jeffrey Epstein had been previously released by former President Joe Biden’s administration.

While visiting Turnberry, Scotland, a reporter inquired whether Trump was aware of his name appearing in the Epstein Files. Trump described the handling of these files by the previous administration as a “horror,” suggesting they were utilized for the benefit of Biden and former Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming 2024 election.

“These files were executed by the worst scum on the planet. [Former FBI Director James] Comey and [former Attorney General Merrick] Garland were involved, along with Biden and others who really ran the government,” Trump said. He suggested that if there was any useful information, it would have already been disclosed. “I think it’s a hoax. They had to know that if there was something serious, they would’ve leaked it. These were executed by my enemies. If there was anything there, they would have used it during elections.”

The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are currently under pressure to disclose all their files after determining that Epstein committed suicide in August 2019 and that they do not possess the supposed “client list.” Trump expressed his support for Attorney General Pam Bondy, especially in light of the criticism regarding the file processing.

On July 17, Trump posted about asking Bondy to release “all relevant large ju judge testimony” that would require court approval.

Trump acknowledged his past friendship with Epstein but mentioned he severed ties after Epstein “stopped off” at his Palm Beach property in 2004. This was followed by Epstein’s first arrest in 2006 on felony solicitation charges, according to reports.

A July 17 article from the Wall Street Journal detailed a letter Trump wrote to Epstein for his 50th birthday in 2003. Trump has denied any allegations and has since filed a lawsuit against WSJ, Rupert Murdoch, and the two reporters involved.

Following Epstein’s death, corrections officers Tova Noel and Michael Thomas did not follow proper procedures during their shifts, leading to charges against them, though the DOJ later dropped the case. Dr. Michael Baden, a forensic pathologist hired by Epstein’s family, indicated in an autopsy review that Epstein’s death was more consistent with homicide than suicide.
