On Tuesday, President Trump stated that Jeffrey Epstein “stole” a young woman who worked at the Mar-a-Lago spa several years ago.
Previously, Trump had mentioned that some disputes with Epstein arose when Epstein allegedly took resort employees from the Mar-a-Lago spa.
While speaking to reporters on Air Force One during his return to Scotland, Trump elaborated, suggesting that the employee in question was Virginia Giuffre, a prominent accuser of Epstein who tragically died by suicide in April.
“I don’t know. I think she worked at the spa. I think so. Yeah, he stole her, and she wasn’t complaining about us,” Trump said.
His claims have yet to be independently verified. The former attorney for Giuffre did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
When asked if Epstein took other workers from the Florida resort, Trump replied, “Yes, that was true,” adding that most of them were spa workers.
“People who work at the spa. I have an incredible spa. It’s one of the best in the world at Mar-a-Lago, and people were taken from there and hired by him. Complaints came from others. I didn’t know that,” Trump remarked.
He continued, saying he eventually told Epstein, “Listen, we don’t want you taking our people.” He emphasized that it wasn’t acceptable, regardless of whether they were spa workers.
Trump’s comments seem to stem from previous discussions about why he cut ties with Epstein due to employee poaching.
“For years, I didn’t talk to Jeffrey Epstein… because he did something inappropriate. He hired help,” he noted. “He stole people who worked for me. I told him I wouldn’t let it happen again. He did it again, and I drove him out of the place,” Trump added.
Additionally, when questioned about the possibility of pardoning Ghislaine Maxwell, a longtime associate of Epstein who recently spoke with the Department of Justice, Trump hesitated. “I’m allowed to give her pardon,” he said, acknowledging that no one had approached him about it. “It’s being reported, but it feels inappropriate to talk about it now,” he stated.
Trump mentioned last Friday that the pardon for Maxwell hadn’t crossed his mind and redirected reporters to focus on other topics related to Epstein and his associates.
