Former President Trump claimed in a video that President Biden was dropping out of the race to make way for Vice President Harris, whom he called “pathetic.” Posts It was posted on the former president’s Truth Social account on Wednesday.
The video, first obtained by The Daily Beast, shows Trump on a golf course alongside his youngest son, Barron Trump, bragging about his performance against Biden in the debate.
“Look at that old, rundown pile of garbage,” he said of Biden. “He just quit. He’s withdrawing from the race.”
“That means we got Kamala,” Trump continued.
“She’s really bad, really pathetic,” Trump added.
It is unclear when the video was recorded. Biden’s campaign has insisted the president will continue with his reelection campaign despite widespread panic within the party after last week’s disastrous debate.
Democrats are divided on whether Harris stands a better chance against Trump, and a small but growing number of Democrats are calling for Biden to step aside. A CNN poll released Tuesday showed Harris trailing Trump more than Biden, while other polls have shown Biden trailing Trump nationally and in key battleground states.
