Trump Claims Rescued Air Force Officer ‘Avoided Capture’ For Almost 48 Hours Behind Enemy Lines

Trump Discusses Rescue of Air Force Officer in Iran

On Monday, President Trump revealed that a U.S. Air Force officer had successfully evaded capture in Iran for over 48 hours before being rescued. This incident occurred after Iranian forces shot down a fighter jet two days prior, leading to the military operation to save the downed airman.

According to Trump, the officer was in “extreme conditions” and managed to stay safe behind enemy lines. “The U.S. military does not leave any Americans behind,” he stated, highlighting the military’s capabilities. He described the rescue as a “breathtaking show of skill, precision, lethality, and force,” emphasizing that the American military engaged in intense action to retrieve the officer. “We exited Iranian territory without any casualties of any kind,” Trump continued. He praised the officer’s courage, noting it was a long ordeal, especially given the injuries he had sustained.

The F-15E Strike Eagle was brought down on Friday, with the pilot initially rescued that same day. U.S. special forces worked tirelessly to locate the second airman after reports surfaced that there was a bounty on their heads from a regional governor.

A post on Truth Social indicated the rescued officer suffered serious injuries in the crash, but it was reported by NBC News that the withdrawal of troops “would not interfere” with ongoing negotiations regarding the Iran conflict.

Remarkably, the officer managed to hide for two days while armed with just a pistol. After the rescue, he was flown to Kuwait for medical treatment. The New York Times reported that the CIA also conducted a deception operation to confuse Iranian forces, making false claims about the rescue to facilitate the operation.

The mission involved numerous special forces, multiple military aircraft, and strategic intelligence support. U.S. attack planes were used to draw the Iranian convoy away from the hiding location of the officers, aiding in the successful extraction.
