Trump clashes with Democrats at testy joint address

President Trump on Tuesday became modest with Democrats in his speech to a joint Congressional meeting where lawmakers were escorted from the room and other Democrats left the room as Trump said.

Trump spoke to lawmakers Over 1 hour and 39 minutesbreaking the longest such speeches given in modern history. That included several unprecedented attacks on his predecessor, President Biden, as well as protests from many Democrats in the room.

The night started with a rare scene. This was standing to thwart the president after Rep. Al Green (D-Texas), a regular Trump foil, boasted of winning the election.

“You have no obligation,” Green called out, pausing Trump's speech, temporarily stopping him. When the House members were unforgiving, Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) instructed the sergeant with weapons to remove greenery from the room, drawing a loud applause from the Republicans in the room.

The episode seemed to please both parties. Democrats were clearly protesting and ready to push back Trump's remarks, but Republicans enjoyed the frustration of the opposition. Several Democrats left the room through Trump's comments.

“I realized there's absolutely no way I can say I can make them happy, stand, smile, or praise them,” Trump said towards the side of the room. “We have found a cure for the most devastating illnesses: diseases that wipe out the whole nation, and announce the answers to the biggest economy in history… And these people sitting here don't applause, hold back, or cheer for these astronomical achievements.”

“It's so sad, and that shouldn't be like this,” Trump added.

As Trump entered the room, Rep. Stansbury (DN.M.) lifted the sign that “this is not normal” before Rep. Lance Gooden (R-Texas) tore it apart and threw it into the air. Among the Democrats who left the room through their speech was Rep. Jasmine Crockett (MO.). He showed off a shirt with the words “resistance” written on it when he went out.

At one point, Trump untook Democrats by suggesting he vote to extend the tax cuts that are due to expire later this year.

“I don't think people will take you in the office otherwise,” Trump said.

A few days after nausea in an oval office with Ukrainian President Zelensky, Trump was called Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) while claiming that the US had given him a large amount of money to support Ukraine: “Pocahontas.” She responded with applause from her seat.

Trump at one point referred to Democrats in a positive tone when he thanked him for voting for Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The senator confirmed former senator Rubio with a 99-0 vote.

At other times, several Democrats hugged black signs that read, “fake,” “musksteel,” “save Medicaid,” and “protect veterans.” Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) was embraced by Trump at one point and held up a white board that he read, “Start by paying taxes.”

When Trump spoke about his support for law enforcement, some Democrats said, “January. 6-inch refers to Trump's pardon for mobs at the Capitol that day, including violent criminals convicted of attacking police officers.

The tension then reminiscent of the scene during Trump's previous speech, culminating in the final state of his first term in 2020, when then-Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif) tore a copy of Trump's speech.

The president called former President Biden multiple times during his remarks. This is an unusual and rare move for a sitting president giving such a speech. Trump calls Biden “the worst president in American history,” but has touted it as a falling during his presidency compared to his democratic rivals.

Trump then lamented that his administration inherited an “economic nightmare” from the Biden administration and was fighting “to reverse this damage.” It took Trump about 20 minutes to deal with inflation, the highest concern for many voters. At that point, he denounced Biden for the high price of eggs.

Democrats cried out as Trump began repeating his unproven claims that millions well over 100 were still undergoing Social Security checks, embracing signs of “false” and “false.”

Democrats also pointed to Elon Musk, who was sitting in the gallery when Trump said “the era of domination by unelected bureaucrats is over.”

The president also called for various actions in areas that have been supported by Democrats, ending the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion (DEI) program and rattling out the transgender athletes taking steps to prevent women's sports.

The president then condemned chips and scientific law, one of Biden's signature achievements aimed at boosting semiconductor production in the country. It passed with bipartisan support and benefited several Republican districts.

“Your chips' actions are both scary and scary,” Trump told Democrats. “We should remove the chipping method and whatever remains, Mr. Speaker, we should use it to reduce debt and other reasons.”

Trump has also promoted economic investments from major companies such as Apple and Softbank since the election. He said that referring to the Democrats, Vice President Harris would not have won in November.

“Just this night,” Trump asked the Democrat at one point.
