According to Decision Desk Headquarters, former President Trump is expected to win the Republican primary in Washington, confirm the Republican presidential nomination, and prepare for a rematch with President Biden.
Trump is expected to win at least 1,215 delegates, the minimum number needed to secure Republican consent. Ahead of Tuesday’s primary, Trump had won 1,077 delegates, meaning he needed at least 138 delegates, according to DDHQ.
There were 161 delegates competing for the Republican nomination in Georgia, Hawaii, Mississippi, and Washington.
Trump was not expected to face a serious challenge in Tuesday’s primary, given his rival Nikki Haley dropped out of the Republican primary last week, but a former U.N. ambassador told Trump It was unclear whether they would continue to collect votes as a form of protest.
Tuesday’s primary also concluded one of the most surprising Republican presidential campaigns. Despite a crowded field of Republican candidates running against the former president, all but two, Trump and Haley, remained in the race for the New Hampshire primary on January 23.
Meanwhile, on the Democratic side, Biden won enough delegates to secure the Democratic presidential nomination.
