Trump Partners with Jack Nicklaus for Golf Course Renovation
On Saturday, President Donald Trump revealed plans to collaborate with golf legend Jack Nicklaus on renovating a golf course at a significant military base close to Washington, D.C.
During an aerial tour of Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland, Trump met with Nicklaus, as reported by various sources. “We’re going to do some work at Andrews Air Force Base, particularly for our esteemed Air Force. We aim to refurbish the base and reintroduce a golf course,” he mentioned, reflecting his enthusiasm for golf. He spoke to reporters before heading out to the base for the meeting with Nicklaus.
The president highlighted that Nicklaus will take the lead in revamping the base’s recreational facilities, stating, “Jack is the architect and will design it.” He noted that there are two existing courses in poor condition, and they could be renovated cost-effectively.
At 85, Nicklaus—often referred to as the “Golden Bear”—is celebrated as one of the sport’s greatest competitors, boasting 18 major championships between 1962 and 1986, a record that still stands today. Recently, he has shifted focus toward golf course design, with his firm, Nicklaus Design, having developed over 425 courses globally.
Joint Base Andrews, known as the primary airfield for presidential travel, is located about twelve miles from the White House. This base encompasses both Andrews Air Force Base and Naval Air Facility Washington, which merged in 2009.
According to the base’s official statement, it handles various missions across multiple military branches, emphasizing its reputation as a premier joint base housing units from the Air Force, Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and Civil Air Patrol.
The White House has not yet responded to inquiries regarding this development.
