Trump comes back to DC as government shutdown enters its third week.

With the federal government currently in a shutdown, the political landscape remains tense as the Trump administration faces off against Democrats over healthcare funding. This deadlock has extended into its third week, leaving many concerned about the ongoing implications.

President Trump has openly criticized Democrats, asserting that they are responsible for the shutdown that has affected thousands of federal employees and halted significant infrastructure investments. He likened the Democratic Party to a “kamikaze team,” suggesting they are moving toward failure with no clear direction for progress.

The ongoing issue is also tied to healthcare, with Democrats warning that without action by November, many Americans could see increased premiums. They argue that their proposed plan includes funding for Medicaid aimed at undocumented immigrants, a move that Trump claims would threaten healthcare access for citizens.

Government shutdowns, while once a rare occurrence, have become a regular aspect of budget disputes. Since 1976, there have been 20 government shutdowns in total, with the longest stretch occurring during Trump’s first administration, lasting 34 days over funding for the border wall.

Despite negotiations, Senators were unable to resolve the deadlock after multiple attempts, and the House of Representatives remains inactive since September 19, not set to return until the crisis is addressed.
