Trump at NFL Game
Former President Donald Trump made an appearance in the FOX broadcasting booth during the game between the Washington Commanders and the Detroit Lions. He was accompanied by noted announcer Kenny Albert and analyst Jonathan Burma.
During the game, Commanders quarterback Marcus Mariota executed a play that moved Washington into scoring territory. Trump commented, emphasizing the importance of scoring, saying, “I think they’ve got to get the touchdown. Let’s put it this way: They’ve just got to get the touchdown. Forget about the play.”
Shortly thereafter, Washington scored with Mariota connecting on a 4-yard touchdown pass to Deebo Samuel, although they missed the subsequent two-point conversion, leaving the Lions trailing by 16 points.
Trump attended the game as part of the NFL’s “Salute to Service” event, where he also announced names of people joining the military. Notably, he became the first sitting president to attend a regular season NFL game since Jimmy Carter in 1978.
Albert reminded Trump that Carter’s visit coincided with a historical moment for baseball when Bucky Dent made headlines in the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry.
Throughout his presidency, Trump has been a presence at various major sporting events, including the Super Bowl and the Ryder Cup. He expressed his admiration for football, describing it as a “microcosm of life,” with all its ups and downs.
Trump arrived at Northwest Stadium via Air Force One shortly before halftime, having flown from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
