Trump confirms he will vote for Florida marijuana legalization measure

In a post late Sunday, former President Trump confirmed that he would vote in favor of Florida's marijuana legalization bill, after hinting he might support it.

“As I have said before, I believe it is time to end the unnecessarily arrest and incarceration of adults for possessing small amounts of marijuana for personal use.” The former president said: At Truth Social. “Sensible regulation must be implemented while ensuring adults have access to safe, tested products.”

“As a Floridian, I intend to vote YES on Amendment 3 in November,” he added. “As president, we will continue to focus on research to make marijuana a Schedule 3 medical drug, work with Congress to pass commonsense legislation including safe banking for state-chartered businesses, and support states' rights to pass marijuana laws that work very well for their residents, like Florida's.”

Former President Shown Late last month, he said he might support legislation to legalize marijuana for recreational use.

“In the state of Florida, like many other states that have already done so, the Third Amendment will legalize marijuana for personal use by adults,” Trump said in a Truth Social post at the time. “Whether people like it or not, this is being done by voter approval, so it needs to be done right.”

The Biden administration announced in May that it had begun the formal rulemaking process to reclassify marijuana from Schedule I to Schedule III.

“This is a landmark moment. Today, my Administration took a major step by reclassifying marijuana from a Schedule 1 drug to a Schedule 3 drug, a critical move to reverse years of inequity,” President Biden said. X said in a statement at that time.
