Vance Discusses Iran and Trump’s Stance
On Tuesday, Vice President J.D. Vance indicated that President Donald Trump might consider “further action to end Iranian enrichment.” The aim here seems to be curtailing Iran’s nuclear ambitions, but Vance also expressed concerns about getting too entangled in foreign affairs.
In a detailed post on social media, Vance sought to address the existing “divide” among conservatives. On one side are those advocating for U.S. involvement in the Israeli campaign against Iran, while the other group leans toward a more isolationist “America-first” approach that resists foreign intervention.
“Look, I’m seeing this from the inside, and am admittedly biased towards our president (and my friend), but there’s a lot of crazy stuff on social media, so I wanted to address some things directly on the Iran issue,” Vance started.
“First, POTUS has been remarkably consistent for over 10 years, asserting that Iran cannot possess a nuclear weapon. Recently, he pushed his foreign policy advisors to broker a deal with Iran to meet this objective. The president has been clear about Iran’s need to halt uranium enrichment, stating this would happen in one of two ways—the straightforward way or the ‘other’ way,” he continued.
He then elaborated on the concerning levels of uranium enrichment that Iran has achieved.
“They’ve enriched uranium well beyond what could be justified for civilian needs. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has deemed them in violation of their non-proliferation commitments, and let’s be honest, that organization isn’t known for being overly skeptical,” Vance said.
“Meanwhile, the president has displayed significant restraint, focusing our military efforts on protecting both our personnel and citizens,” Vance noted. “He might feel the necessity to take additional steps to end Iranian enrichment. Ultimately, that judgment is the president’s. Yet, it’s understandable for people to feel apprehensive about foreign entanglements, especially given the last 25 years of misguided foreign policy.”
Vance wrapped up his post by urging people to support and trust in President Trump. He reassured Americans that the 47th president “is solely focused on using the American military to achieve the goals of the American populace. Whatever actions he takes, that will remain his priority.”
