Religious Leaders Praise Trump’s Influence on Faith in America

President Donald Trump has received commendations from notable religious figures, who assert that his administration is enhancing a burgeoning religious revival across the nation. Reports indicate an uptick in church attendance, particularly among younger congregants.

JP de Gance, the founder and president of Communio—a nonprofit focused on church training in evangelism—shared with Fox News Digital that there’s a noticeable correlation between culture and politics. He mentioned, “We’re witnessing this dual influence,” adding that although religious independents have been rising for about four decades, their growth has plateaued in the last four years, indicating a significant trend shift.

De Gance noted that Communio has received numerous accounts from churches nationwide reporting a surge in new members.

Trump to Address Religious Freedom in Education

At Texas A&M, it’s noteworthy that 420 students are currently enrolled in the Order of Adult Christian Initiation (OCIA) classes, with around 100 more adult baptisms anticipated, which he described as “very unusual.” OCIA classes cater to adults who wish to join the Catholic Church. He also highlighted a rise in small, close-knit church settings among Protestant groups.

Faith leaders emphasize that the White House is not only reacting to the growing interest in religion but is also more openly embracing it than earlier administrations. De Gance articulated the stark contrast between the Trump and Biden administrations regarding their approach to faith.

He pointed out that during the last Easter celebration under Biden, instead of a traditional Easter message, there was a focus on a “Transgender Day,” which he found indicative of a change in priorities. In 2024, Easter Sunday will coincide with this recognition.

“In previous administrations, many faith communities felt there was hostility towards their beliefs. Now, there’s an openness and a desire in the current administration to include faith in its actions,” de Gance remarked.

Trump Promotes Economic and Spiritual Renewal

The Trump administration has been vocal about faith, even forming an organization to represent faith-based groups. In February 2025, Trump signed an executive order creating the White House Office of Faith intended to empower these organizations to better serve communities.

During Holy Week, Trump and First Lady Melania issued a proclamation focusing on their faith. They stated, “This Holy Week, we join in prayer with Christians as we celebrate the crucifixion and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ… We pray that America will continue to be a beacon of faith, hope, and freedom.”

Additionally, Trump released a Christmas message highlighting their prayers for “God’s love and peace” to envelop the nation.

In times of crisis, like the flooding in Texas or shootings at local churches, Trump’s administration has invoked faith as a source of comfort. De Gance noted that difficult times can be moments for embracing faith and community.

Looking Ahead to America’s 250th Anniversary

As Trump enters the second year of his second term and the country approaches its 250th anniversary, many anticipate that his administration will continue to affirm the significance of religion in American life. De Gance believes this anniversary may prompt reflections on the pillars that shaped the nation.

He emphasized that Christianity has been foundational to America’s beginnings, urging strong familial bonds and connections to faith communities.

In light of a recent incident at Cities Church in Minnesota—where anti-ICE protests disrupted a service and led to a swift response from the Justice Department—De Gance noted that these tensions may invoke a stronger stance from the administration against threats to faith and community.
