Trump Critiques ABC and Jimmy Kimmel

Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Tuesday night to express his discontent with ABC and late-night host Jimmy Kimmel, questioning the network’s choice to feature him again. He stated, “I can’t believe ABC Fake News gave Jimmy Kimmel his job,” reflecting on how the White House had previously been informed that Kimmel’s show was canceled. Something must have shifted between then and now; it seems both his audience and “talent” had disappeared.

Kimmel’s attempt to address criticism surrounding his comments on Charlie Kirk’s assassination, some would say, backfired. Despite ABC/Disney executives announcing the show’s return with a statement about sensitivity, major affiliates like Nexstar and Sinclair declared they wouldn’t air it unless certain demands were fulfilled.

Response from Allies of Charlie Kirk

In a statement, Sinclair Broadcasting Group, which aligns with several conservative platforms, urged Kimmel to directly apologize to the Kirk family and make meaningful donations to them and Turning Point USA. Kimmel’s comments were viewed as attempts to steer a narrative separating conservative reactions from the actions of the shooter, though some felt he may have exploited the tragedy for political leverage.

Kimmel’s Show Viewed as Biased

Trump commented on how comedians like Kimmel allegedly risk their networks by presenting what he described as “99% positive Democrat trash.” He went on to imply that ABC’s backing could be interpreted as a significant illegal contribution to the Democrats’ campaign efforts.

Reflecting on his own experiences, Trump remarked, “The last time I chased them they gave me $16 million. This sounds even more advantageous. A true bunch of losers! Let Jimmy Kimmel rot with his bad review.”
