Former President Trump criticized the Super Bowl LX halftime show, featuring Puerto Rican artist Bad Bunny, labeling it as “one of the worst shows ever” and calling it “an insult to the greatness of America.”
In a statement made shortly after the performance, he expressed his disdain, saying, “The Super Bowl halftime show was absolutely awful, one of the worst ever! It makes no sense, is an affront to American greatness, and does not align with our standards of success, creativity, and excellence.”
Trump took issue with the fact that Bad Bunny’s songs were solely in Spanish and described the choreography as “disgusting.”
He remarked, “No one can understand a word this man is saying, and the dance is disgusting, especially for the young children watching from across America and around the world. This ‘show’ is nothing more than a ‘slap in the face’ to our country.”
“There’s nothing inspiring about this halftime show and the viewing chaos. It’s going to receive rave reviews from the fake news media because they have no clue what’s happening in the real world,” he added.
Throughout his performance, Bad Bunny highlighted aspects of his homeland, bringing elements of Puerto Rico’s natural beauty to the stage at Levi’s Stadium.
During the show, he navigated through green stalks and was accompanied by farm workers, even entering a wedding ceremony scene.
In addition to the main act, Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin made brief appearances. Notably, Bad Bunny presented a Grammy Award to Liam Conejo Ramos, a 5-year-old boy released from ICE custody, who gained attention after a photo of him while detained went viral.
As the performance concluded, Bad Bunny displayed a football that read “Together We Are America,” while the background jumbotron featured the message, “The only thing more powerful than hate is love.”
Trump wrapped up his remarks by criticizing the “ridiculous new kickoff rule,” which he had previously deemed part of “weak football.” This rule is aimed at protecting players from dangerous head-on collisions that can lead to serious long-term health issues.
Previously, Trump indicated that he would attend the Turning Point USA halftime show, which will showcase a group of country singers, featuring Kid Rock as the headliner.
