Trump Critiques Biden Over Recent Shooting Incident

Former President Donald Trump criticized President Joe Biden following an incident in New York City where an officer was shot. Trump, in a post on Truth Social, described the assailant as an “illegal alien monster” who had been released under Biden’s administration.

According to Trump, the suspect was taken into custody at the border in April 2023 but was later released in a deal that involved deportation. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) identified the shooter as 21-year-old Miguel Francisco Mora Nunez, a Dominican national. The DHS confirmed that Nunez had been arrested, but instead of facing consequences, he was let go.

New York Mayor Eric Adams elaborated on Nunez’s criminal history, noting that he had prior arrests for assault and violations of protective orders, along with an active bench warrant for robbery and stabbing. Nunez’s situation raises concerns, particularly as Trump described the Democrats as being responsible for allowing “criminal invaders” into the country.

On Saturday night, Nunez was reportedly involved in an altercation with CBP officials while on a scooter, which led to the shooting. During the confrontation, both the officer and Nunez sustained injuries; however, authorities expect the officer to recover.

Trump commended the officer for his bravery in facing the attack, noting the skill and courage demonstrated during the incident. As for Nunez, he is currently hospitalized and could face additional charges, including attempted murder, as Adams stated he would be added to the suspect’s record as soon as possible.
