Trump criticizes France and the UK regarding the Strait of Hormuz

Trump Criticizes Allies Over Iran War Involvement

In Washington, President Trump expressed frustration on Tuesday towards Britain and France for not participating in the conflict with Iran. He suggested that the UK should take control of the Strait of Hormuz to help replenish its oil supply.

Through a series of social media posts, Trump labeled America’s allies as “extremely ineffective.” He pointed out their unwillingness to engage in decisive actions against Iran, particularly while expressing concerns over how the strait’s situation was impacting oil supplies.

Addressing the nations struggling with jet fuel shortages due to the strait, Trump stated, “First, buy it from the United States. We have enough. And second, have the courage to go to the Strait and just get it.” He emphasized that countries need to begin taking care of themselves, adding, “The United States is not there to help you anymore, just like you were not there for us.” He noted that Iran was essentially defeated and urged them to secure their own oil.

Additionally, Trump criticized France, mentioning their role in blocking military flights destined for Israel from using their airspace.

This commentary came alongside a warning from Trump, issuing an April 6 deadline for Tehran to resume negotiations or face substantial attacks on its energy infrastructure, including power plants and oil wells.

He also indicated that the U.S. might seize Kharg Island, a critical Iranian oil export hub in the Persian Gulf, if the situation with the Strait of Hormuz did not improve.

The strait is vital, as approximately 20% of the world’s oil passes through it. Its recent closure has led to a troubling spike in prices, increasing by 50% in just a few weeks.
