Trump criticizes Marjorie Taylor Greene's provocative interview: 'Rotten apple!'

Trump’s Controversy Over “60 Minutes” and Greene’s Comments

President Trump is demanding an apology from “60 Minutes” for what he believes is misleading coverage regarding Hunter Biden’s laptop. He expressed anger over outgoing Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s interview with CBS’ Leslie Stahl, during which Greene suggested that fellow Republicans had spoken negatively about Trump behind his back, even going as far as calling her a “traitor” in a post on Truth Social.

In a post on Monday morning, following the “60 Minutes” broadcast, Trump referred to Greene as “Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Brown,” hinting that her grievances stem from a personal betrayal by the President.

This interview came shortly after Greene, once a staunch supporter of Trump, announced her resignation from Congress. Her departure followed her rift with the President over various issues, including the release of documents related to Jeffrey Epstein and her backing for more funding for the Affordable Care Act.

During the interview, Greene also alleged that Trump’s words had led to death threats against her and her family. She claimed that many Republicans would be shocked to hear the disparaging comments made about Trump when he wasn’t around.

Stahl encouraged her, saying, “Now let’s shock people,” to which Greene replied, “Okay, I’ve seen a lot of my colleagues make fun of him… but when he won the 2024 primary, they all… started kissing his ass.” She asserted that Republicans often held back their true feelings about Trump out of fear of repercussions.

In a lengthy social media post, Trump described Greene’s current position as reflecting poor judgment, saying, “I think she’s a rotten apple” and claiming she does not genuinely represent the America First or MAGA values he champions. He also commented on the upcoming 2024 campaign, making a veiled reference to CBS’s parent company, Paramount, which had previously settled a lawsuit with Trump for $16 million over an edited interview.

Trump lambasted the “60 Minutes” segment, calling it the result of a “very unprepared traitor.” He expressed frustration that such a show would be allowed to air, demanding a full apology from Leslie Stahl and “60 Minutes” for what he called inaccurate and defamatory remarks about Hunter Biden’s laptop.

In response to Trump’s comments, Greene quipped, “Thank you for your attention to this matter. -MTG,” parodying Trump’s signature style from his social media endorsements.

Recently, Trump discussed his sizable financial settlement with Paramount on the show, but his remarks were edited out of the airing.
