Trump Criticizes Massie on Major Bill: 'Subpar' Congressman

Trump Critiques Rep. Massey Over Budget Bill Stance

President Donald Trump expressed his disapproval of Rep. Thomas Massey (R-KY) for not supporting the Budget Settlement Bill. He suggested that Kentucky Republicans seem inclined toward raising taxes, hinting that their position reflects poorly on them.

In his remarks, Trump pointed out, “Rep. Thomas Massey, hailing from the great state of Kentucky, which I’ve won three times, often speaks about protecting the Constitution. But really, his actions do quite the opposite. He might vote against this significant bill.” Trump emphasized the importance of funding for military and domestic needs, saying Massey’s approach could endanger essential financial guarantees.

He added, “Massey is against everything mentioned and more. Everyone seems to think he’s this cool figure, but he’s just not. I mean, he’s a loser!”

These comments come on the heels of Trump’s criticisms of Massey for opposing a bill back in May, where the congressman referred to Trump’s actions regarding Iran as problematic and urged Congress to reassess war powers.

Trump indicated plans to support candidates in the Republican primaries who challenge Massey. “There are some strong American patriots stepping up against him. I’ll be actively campaigning in Kentucky,” he said.

He made it clear that “Make America Great Again” isn’t compatible with what he described as Massey’s unproductive politics. Additionally, he extended his gratitude to supporters, mentioning their efforts as “really special!”

On the implications for the Republican National Committee, RNC Chairman Michael Whatley remarked that voters would ultimately decide and emphasized that the RNC wouldn’t intervene in the primary elections until after they occurred. He stated, “The people elected Trump and the GOP on a common agenda focused on America’s priorities.” Whatley underscored the importance of competitive primaries, indicating that candidates opposed to this agenda would be held accountable by voters.
