Trump Criticizes Marjorie Taylor Greene After CBS Interview
President Donald Trump took to social media to express his displeasure with Georgia Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, following her much-anticipated appearance on “60 Minutes” on Sunday.
Greene has frequently been a vocal supporter of Trump in Congress, often representing his views on various issues. However, their relationship hit a snag last November when Trump unexpectedly retracted his support for her.
“Her new views are those of a very stupid person,” Trump remarked in a post.
Greene suggested that their fallout stemmed from her requests for the unconditional release of the Epstein files, but other narratives indicate that her ambitions for higher office were discouraged by Trump, leaving her frustrated. She announced her resignation from Congress effective January.
While Trump continues to criticize Greene, she has been making appearances on news outlets that she previously clashed with, drawing further ire from Trump and his loyalists after her interview on CBS.
In the interview with Leslie Stahl, Greene discussed the rising number of death threats aimed at her and her family, attributing some of the incitement directly to Trump.
Trump countered, saying Greene’s discontent was the real reason behind their split, describing her as “upset.” He continued with strong criticisms of her, claiming she had terrible ideas now and likening her to “a rotten apple.” Additionally, he conveyed that Greene no longer embodied the America First or MAGA principles, implying that her views had shifted dramatically.
Greene’s team has yet to respond to requests for comments related to this ongoing conflict.
In another criticism, Trump called Greene “a very unprepared traitor” during her interview. He also expressed dissatisfaction with the new leadership of “60 Minutes,” demanding an apology from Stahl for what he described as biased treatment during a prior interview related to Hunter Biden.
Trump believes the core issue was not Greene’s perceived disloyalty, but rather the decision by Paramount’s new ownership to broadcast such an interview.
