Trump criticizes Rep Ilhan Omar and Gov Tim Walz regarding Minnesota fraud scandal

Trump Criticizes Minnesota Democrats Over Fraud Allegations

President Donald Trump took aim at Democratic leaders on Saturday regarding a significant fraud scandal in Minnesota related to welfare and child care. This incident further fueled his ongoing feud with Representative Ilhan Omar, who has labeled him a “con artist,” and Governor Tim Walz, whom he has called incompetent and corrupt.

“Minnesota’s theft and fraud has far surpassed the initial estimate of $19 billion,” Trump expressed in a morning post on Truth Social. He emphasized that the Biden administration was aware of the fraudulent activities but did nothing to address them.

Trump’s comments escalated tensions, particularly toward Omar and Walz, who have had several clashes over the years.

“‘Scammer’ Ilhan Omar and his dreadful associates from Somalia ought to be in jail or sent back to Somalia,” he stated.

Trump’s Strong Words for Walz

Trump didn’t hold back on Walz either, calling him either “the most corrupt government official in history or the most incompetent.” He suggested that even individuals with minimal intelligence should have recognized the situation in Minnesota.

Throughout his political career, Trump has frequently targeted Omar, labeling her a “fraud” and suggesting her expulsion from the United States. He even alleged that she engaged in immigration fraud by marrying his brother, which Omar has vehemently denied.

Recently, after an incident where Omar was sprayed with a substance at Minneapolis City Hall, Trump again referred to her as a “con artist,” hinting—without evidence—that she might have orchestrated the event herself.

Omar’s Response

In response, Omar noted that the number of death threats against her tends to spike whenever Trump uses “hateful rhetoric” regarding her and the Somali community. Just recently, she labeled him as a “racist,” “bigot,” “xenophobe,” and “Islamophobe” in light of his accusations.

A considerable number of people, many of whom are Somali immigrants or Somali Americans, have faced charges in Minnesota related to a large-scale welfare fraud scheme involving food assistance and services for autism. Federal prosecutors accused the scheme of pilfering hundreds of millions from taxpayer-funded programs. There’s also an ongoing investigation looking into potential fraud in the child care system.

Continued Clashes and Growing Tensions

Trump and Walz’s relationship has been rocky since Walz became Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, with Trump consistently associating the governor with the fraudulent activities and criticizing his leadership capabilities.

These aggressive attacks have escalated as investigations into fraud progress. Trump’s previous posts on Truth Social contain derogatory terms aimed at Walz, which have drawn public backlash and heightened the political confrontation.
