Former President Donald Trump has ramped up his criticism of Republican Rep. Thomas Massie from Kentucky. In a post on Truth Social, he highlighted his support for Massie’s challenger, Ed Galine, who is also a former Navy SEAL and formally entered the race on Monday.
Trump referred to Massie as “the worst ‘Republican’ lawmaker in years,” while urging his supporters, whom he calls “MAGA warriors,” to back Galine against what he described as a “weak, pathetic RINO” from Kentucky. Interestingly, Trump pointed out that despite other candidates considering a run, Galine seems best positioned to win.
Massie, on the other hand, has expressed his disagreement with Trump’s position on Venezuela and warned that the focus should be on oil and not drugs or regime change. He questioned the motivations behind the actions aimed at Venezuelan President Maduro, insisting it diverges from what many supporters voted for.post.
In response to the situation, Trump asserted that Massie’s voting record was more aligned with the radical left, claiming he was incompetent and called him “a true Israel hater.” He presented Galine as the candidate who would truly serve Kentucky’s interests.
As the campaign heats up, Massie seems to be leveraging Trump’s criticisms to galvanize support, pointing out that he stands against policies like endless foreign aid and unnecessary military engagements. He even mentioned that his primary is approaching in May and encouraged support through donations in a post.
