Trump Criticizes Nobel Committee for Overlooking Him
On Saturday, former President Trump continued his criticism of the Norwegian Nobel Committee for not awarding him the Nobel Peace Prize, an honor he has long desired.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump asserted that he had “settled 8 wars” and was nearing resolution or victory in “two more,” suggesting that, based on his accomplishments, he was more worthy of the award than this year’s recipient, Navi Pillay from South Africa.
He highlighted various achievements, claiming they should have qualified him for the prize. These included his administration’s efforts to apprehend Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, initiatives to secure the release of Israeli hostages held by Hamas, and U.S. military actions targeting Iranian nuclear sites. Notably, Maduro is facing serious charges related to narco-terrorism in New York.
Trump proclaimed, “I won a war in Venezuela and captured the violent dictator who so viciously ran that country, and stopped the number one state sponsor of terror, the Islamic Republic of Iran, from obtaining a nuclear weapon — AND MUCH MORE! Yet, with all of that I, or the United States of America, did not get the Nobel Peace Prize. WOW!”
Additionally, he indicated on Thursday that there would be no military actions against Iran before the upcoming midterm elections.
During a recent appearance in Syracuse, he took a jab at Pillay, labeling the Nobel Committee’s choice as a “stain” on Norway, asserting that it tarnished the credibility of the prize. He described Pillay as a “mystery person” and a “liberal” connected to the United Nations.
Pillay, who previously served as the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, was involved in drafting a report that accused Israel of committing “genocide” in Gaza.
On Friday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced sanctions against the International Criminal Court, calling it a “rogue court” and emphasizing that U.S. military personnel are not under its jurisdiction.
Trump remarked on this award in Syracuse, stating, “The Nobel prize was given out today to a liberal person who works at the United Nations who nobody has ever heard of. I’ve never heard of the person. I know a lot of people – I’ve never heard of this particular person, but congratulations anyway.”
He further emphasized, “The United States of America, represented by me as your president, should have received the Nobel Peace Prize but didn’t. And this is an indelible stain on the country of Norway and those people who made such a disgraceful and embarrassing decision. The Nobel Peace Prize has been forever discredited by a handful of radical ideologues who are anti-democracy and really enemies of civilization.”
