During a recent meeting with Argentine President Javier Milei, President Donald Trump took a jab at ABC News host George Stephanopoulos. He sarcastically remarked on the nature of their past interactions, saying, “We’ll take some questions from the news, but it’s going to be incredibly non-adversarial and friendly, like JD had a very ‘friendly’ interview with Mr. George Slopadopoulos.” His tone suggested he wasn’t being entirely serious.
Trump amusingly recalled a previous legal encounter with Stephanopoulos, quipping, “Last time we were here, he was nice enough to pay me $16 million.” He emphasized how worthwhile it was, half-joking about the nature of such legal battles.
He also mentioned his dissatisfaction with how Vice President J.D. Vance was treated in a recent interview, calling it inappropriate for the host to interrupt a respected vice president while speaking. “I think that’s one way to win an argument,” he remarked, implying that it was a low tactic.
In a notable shift, Trump announced he would no longer entertain questions from ABC, labeling them as “ABC Fake News.” Vance had a tense exchange with Stephanopoulos during an interview where he defended himself against allegations of bribery, challenging the validity of claims tied to Border Czar Tom Homan. Vance expressed frustration over the host’s focus on this contentious topic, pointing out there were other pressing issues that deserved attention, such as peace in the Middle East and potential government shutdowns.
Afterward, he shared his thoughts on social media, criticizing Stephanopoulos for not addressing more significant matters during the interview. ABC News did not provide any comments in response to the exchanges.
