Trump demands immediate resumption of US nuclear weapons testing after a break

President Donald Trump has stated that he has instructed the United States to commence nuclear weapons testing “immediately,” emphasizing that this is part of aligning with the strategies of other nations. He characterized this action as essential for maintaining global parity.

In a recent post on Truth Social, Trump noted, “The United States possesses more nuclear armaments than any other nation. This was achieved during my first term, alongside significant updates and renewals of our arsenal.”

He went on to express regret about the decision, citing the appalling destructive capacity of nuclear weapons. Still, he felt it was unavoidable. “Russia ranks second and China is not far behind, but within five years, we will be at their level,” he said. “Due to the nuclear testing programs of other countries, I’ve ordered the War Department to initiate our tests on an equal footing. That will commence right away.”

This announcement follows a warning issued by Trump to Russian President Vladimir Putin about the presence of U.S. nuclear submarines stationed near the coast, which came after Russia conducted missile tests.

Trump, speaking to reporters on Air Force One, insisted that the U.S. was “not playing games” with Putin and reacted to questions regarding Russia’s missile tests, which reportedly have a range exceeding 8,000 miles. “Do you think that’s just saber rattling?” a reporter inquired.

In response, Trump highlighted the capability of the U.S. submarines, saying, “We don’t need to travel 8,000 miles. We know the world’s largest nuclear submarine is right off their coast. They’re serious, and so are we.” He stressed the need to end the prolonged conflict, which had initially been expected to last just a week but is approaching its fourth year.

Trump also alluded to the potential for further sanctions against Russia, simply saying, “We’ll see,” when questioned by reporters.

This follows Russia’s recent testing of a nuclear-powered cruise missile that claims a range beyond 8,000 miles, with indications from President Putin that the nation is preparing to deploy new weaponry.

During an October 21 test, Russia’s top commander relayed that their missile flew nearly 8,700 miles over about 15 hours, marking a significant development in their military capabilities.
