Trump Denies Report About Chief of Staff Replacement
On Thursday, President Donald Trump rejected a report from Politico that suggested he was considering replacing White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, labeling it as “TOTAL FAKE NEWS.”
In a statement responding to Politico’s claims, Trump emphasized that Wiles holds his complete trust and criticized the publication:
“TOTAL FAKE NEWS Politico doesn’t care about facts, integrity, or honest journalism — it’s why I kicked them out of the White House!” the president asserted. “Susie Wiles is my loyal and longest serving Chief of Staff — there is a reason for that. She has been with me since the beginning, is my trusted advisor, and has my COMPLETE confidence. President DONALD J. TRUMP.”
According to Politico, which cited anonymous sources, Trump is reportedly looking at several potential candidates to take over for Wiles. Names mentioned include White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, New York Yankees President Randy Levine, former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte, and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, even though Trump has dismissed these suggestions.
Wiles has been serving as chief of staff during the first 20 months of Trump’s second term. Prior to this role, she co-directed Trump’s highly successful 2024 campaign, where he won all seven swing states along with the popular vote against former Vice President Kamala Harris.
Notably, she is the first woman to ever hold the position of chief of staff for a president and has been recognized, being ranked 66th on Forbes’ list of “The Most Powerful 100 Women in the World.”
In March, Trump announced Wiles was diagnosed with breast cancer. Despite her diagnosis, Wiles continued to work in her role almost full-time. By September, she shared the good news that she was “cancer free.”
“Some personal news I’m grateful to share. After a medical appointment at the Mayo Clinic this week, my pathology results came back clear,” said Wiles. “I am cancer free.”
She expressed her gratitude to her family, friends, and doctors, thanking everyone who supported her throughout her journey. Wiles also gave special recognition to President Trump for his steadfast support, stating, “I am deeply grateful and will continue to work to advance his America First Agenda.”
