The former president spoke about the assassination attempt on Sunday afternoon that was thwarted by the Secret Service.
“It was a tough one, but it worked out. The Secret Service did a great job. The guy is in prison, and he'll be in prison for a long time, hopefully. He's a very dangerous man,” Trump said.
“Sunday morning I was playing golf with some friends. It was just beautiful, calm weather. Everything was beautiful and cozy. And all of a sudden I heard gunshots. I think it was maybe four or five shots.”
“The Secret Service immediately realized it was a bullet and got me.”
“I got in the cart and it was going pretty well. I had my agent with me and he did a great job,” the former president continued. “There was no doubt we were off the course. I wanted to make that last putt, but we decided to get out of here.”
“Interestingly, the shooting occurred when a Secret Service agent saw the barrel of an AK-47, a very powerful rifle, and started firing into the barrel,” Trump added.
“Impressive, right? All I could see was the barrel of the gun. I used that as my guide, started firing and ran towards my target.”
The would-be assassin “ran down the road, grabbed his car, jumped in a truck or a car, and to his surprise, a civilian who was in the area saw something very suspicious, so he went out and parked his car behind his truck or something, took a picture of the license plate and gave it to the sheriff's office,” Trump said.

Asked how he felt about the two assassination attempts within two months, he said: “Well, there's a lot of discussion going on right now.
“That's what a lot of people think when Democrats talk about threats to democracy and things like that. And it seems like both of these guys were far-left.”
“First of all, they need to learn more. They have an app that they haven't even opened yet, which is pretty weird. And my father hired the best lawyer in the state of Pennsylvania, which is pretty weird,” Trump said of the Butler shooter.
