Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Sunday, “this week” on the ABC he called on detractors to “grow and realize” the Ukrainian war needed to end with negotiations on peace deals.

Stefanopuuros: You voted for North Korea and Russia – you voted for the United Nations North Korea, Russia and Belarus, and our western allies.
Rubio: No, please tell me. Okay. So, what do you know – do you know what the UN resolution is? Please let me know if you want to hear what it is. Essentially, I said this was a terrible war. It's time for that to end. The United Nations' job is to bring peace to the world. I thought that was something the United Nations was made to stop the war and prevent them, and that was what the resolution had passed.
Was it hostile to the Russians? no. Returning to the point, it's all – it also did not praise the Russians. That said, this is a bad war. It must be finished.
Incidentally, in the unreported Security Council, Ukraine's first resolution to pass the Security Council, which passed this week for President Trump's leadership, and that a bad war needs to end, let's tie the two together. That is the resolution.
Again, what is the UN for? Isn't this a forum that promotes world peace? And our president shouldn't – shouldn't we all be happy to have a president trying to stop the war and stop them instead of starting them?
And I don't understand that. Other than the fact that I am Donald J. Trump, I am not really.
This is what Democrats who did this would say they are heading for the Nobel Peace Prize. This is ridiculous. We are about to end the war. Starting with the Russians, we cannot end the war unless both sides come to the table. And – And that's the point the president did. And we have to do whatever we can to try and bring them to the table to see if that is possible.
I have not promised you that it is possible. I'm not saying there's a 90% chance. They say they don't take you to the negotiation table and it's zero percent. And we all grow up around this and realize that this is a bad war that is headed in a bad direction with death and destruction and all sorts of dangers surrounding it, and can swirl into a wider conflict. I think the more people grow and realize that, the more we can make.
But the president's crystal is clear. He campaigned on that. And he's going to govern about it. In other words, he will become a president who seeks to achieve peace. And he is very clear, a war that would not have happened if Donald Trump were in the White House. And it needs to be over. And we're going to do everything we can to get it to finish. And in a lasting, sustainable and fair way.
