Trump Calls for Action Against FBI Agent Linked to Investigation

Former President Donald Trump is urging Truth Social to pressure FBI Director Kash Patel to remove a specific agent from the bureau. This demand arises from a report that highlights the agent’s involvement in the Arctic Frost investigation, which targets Trump and various Republican organizations.

In a post referencing internal FBI communications, Trump stated, “These FBI agents are total scum, no different in their own way than the insurgents in Portland, Minnesota, Los Angeles, etc. Kash better get rid of them now! ‘Auto Pen’ and those radical leftist lunatics put in by Obama!” This rhetoric underscores Trump’s ongoing frustrations with the agency.

The president’s comments came after documents were made public, revealing that the Arctic Frost investigation, which initially focused on the January 6, 2021 Capitol riot, has now broadened to include Republican groups and officials nationwide.

A report from Just the News outlines how former FBI agent Timothy Thibault, previously known for sharing anti-Trump sentiments online, played a key role in initiating the Arctic Frost inquiry. Thibault is said to have authorized the investigation back in April 2022, and he frequently circulated left-leaning news articles that justified actions against Trump and his associates.

According to emails and memos obtained by Congress, Thibault disseminated articles from sources like Just Security, NPR, and The Washington Post. Notably, in February 2022, he sent an article styled as an “indictment memo” to his colleagues, written by former Obama Justice Department official Barbara McQuaid. This piece analyzed potential charges related to January 6 and Trump’s pressures on then-Vice President Mike Pence. Thibault also shared podcast episodes featuring McQuaid claiming Trump’s actions constituted a “provable crime.”

Thibault promoted content highlighting Trump’s alleged conspiracy to overturn the election. Despite acknowledging a lack of concrete evidence early on, he urged his colleagues to look for public information that would strengthen their case against Trump.

Information released by Congress, including communications from Senator Chuck Grassley, indicates that Thibault wanted to ensure “DJT” was included in the Arctic Frost documentation. This expansion of the investigation originally centered on the Trump campaign and unknown subjects, leading to scrutiny of key Republican organizations, including the Republican National Committee and Turning Point USA. Grassley noted that this illustrates the FBI’s broad approach towards conservative groups.

Kash Patel testified last September that his review of the Arctic Frost documents revealed extensive surveillance on elected officials, including eight Republican senators. He described the record-keeping as hidden in a secure location, accessible only with high-level approval. Patel mandated disciplinary actions against the responsible agents and disbanded a unit he described as pivotal in the agency’s perceived “weaponization.”

Senator Josh Hawley weighed in, labeling the data collection practices an “abuse of power that goes beyond Watergate,” raising significant concerns about constitutional rights and freedom of speech. He insisted on accountability for those involved.

Thibault has faced allegations of political bias in the past, with whistleblowers in 2022 claiming he sought to halt the investigation into Hunter Biden and inflated stats related to domestic violent extremism. Key figures like Rep. Jim Jordan and Senator Grassley have pointed to Thibault as a central element in these controversial cases, citing evidence of files being marked improperly to prevent them from reopening.
